Hilton Alves is a Brazilian-born self-taught artist and muralist best known for creating the international public art initiative 101 Perfect Waves — a series of large wave-themed murals painted around the world to inspire art, community connection, and ocean awareness.

Background & Journey

  • Born: 1980 in Santos / Guarujá, São Paulo, Brazil. 

  • Art Career: Began painting professionally in June 2000 as a self-taught artist. 

  • Inspiration: A lifelong lover of the ocean, surf culture, and water sports — elements that deeply shape his artistic themes and style. 

  • Relocation: Moved to Oahu’s North Shore, Hawaii, where he lives and works from his gallery/studio in Kahuku.
