Hilton Alves is a Brazilian-born, self-taught artist and muralist best known for creating the international public art initiative 101 Perfect Waves — a series of large, wave-themed murals painted around the world to inspire art, community connection, and ocean awareness.
Born in 1980 in Santos / Guarujá, São Paulo, Brazil, he began painting professionally in June 2000 as a self-taught artist. A lifelong lover of the ocean, surf culture, and water sports, these elements deeply shape his artistic themes and style. He later relocated to OÊ»ahu’s North Shore in Hawaii, where he now lives and works from his gallery and studio in Kahuku.

Alves doesn’t just paint murals, he often engages local schools, volunteers, and artists in the process, using the murals as platforms for youth participation in art projects, collaborative community events, and educational outreach focused on ocean conservation and creativity.
Hilton’s wave murals have become celebrated public artworks that encourage environmental appreciation and connection to the sea, beautify urban spaces, inspire local pride, and highlight the power of art as a tool for cultural and ecological awareness.
